Morgan Simpson
is a small McLaren Vale wine producer located in
the foothills of the South Mount Lofty Ranges.
Winemaker Richard Simpson (B.App. Science - Wine
Science, CSU) selects small parcels of fruit from
the Clos Robert vineyard (first planted by Robert
Allen Simpson in 1972).
The winemaking began with a trial
vintage - 2 barriques of Cabernet Sauvignon - in
1997 followed by the start of commercial
production in 1998.
The wine is hand
made on site using
traditional small scale winemaking equipment and
methods (basket press, small open fermenters). We
combine this with, as far as economically
practicable, modern analytical techniques. We are
currently crushing about 25 tonnes (Cabernet
Sauvignon, Shiraz and Chardonnay).
We have done
consistently well in wine shows around Australia.
Currently our wine
is available through mail order and retail outlets. |
